Role Summary:
The Assistant Accountant supports the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks, including reviewing expense claims, preparing journal entries, and reconciling reports. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial documentation and supporting the team with various accounting functions.
Responsibilities:
- Review coding on accounting documentation to ensure correctness and prepare monthly journal entries.
- Prepare monthly accruals of expenses and petty cash reconciliations for review.
- Receive and review daily petty cash reconciliations and expense claims from business teams, ensuring accurate and complete supporting documents are provided.
- Review and verify monthly petty cash reconciliations from bureau locations, ensuring correct and accurate supporting documentation.
- Review credit card statements, ensuring that receipts and supporting documents are submitted monthly by the business teams.
- Follow up with business teams to address any missing documents and incomplete reconciliations.
- Collaborate with the shared services Accounts Payable (AP) team to resolve supplier invoice queries.
- Prepare detailed reconciliations for monthly travel and medical insurance invoices, ensuring proper General Ledger (GL) and cost center coding.
- Assist the Financial Accountant in reviewing and verifying monthly provider invoices, working with the editorial department and suppliers to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Coordinate with the shared services payroll team to provide expense reimbursement values to staff as needed.
- Support the Senior Accounts Receivable (AR) Accountant with monthly client billing tasks.
- Prepare various monthly and ad hoc financial reports as requested by the Financial Accountant and Head of Finance.
- Assist with the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all accounting records and documents.
Requirements:
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in accounting field.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Exceptional attention to details skills.
- Able to adhere to and implement company accounting policies and procedures.
- Organized, efficient, and proactive individual.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work to tight deadlines with flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with SAP is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
