Technical Inspection Manager – Hazardous Area

About the Job:


Intertek Middle East is now looking to recruit an Electrical & Instrumentation Hazardous Area Inspection Technical Manager to join the electrical team in Dubai office.

This role involves project management, evaluation, report writing and performing inspections on various types of hazardous areas including products used in hazardous locations


Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform hazardous area evaluation/inspection to IEC 60079 standards.
  • Work to grow all aspects of the Hazloc Inspection Business.
  • Provide overall technical expertise for Hazardous locations, related to staff training, project management, accreditation, and report issuance.
  • Responsible to grow the overall Hazloc program, including scope and revenue.
  • Participate and take the required technical lead during projects.
  • Participation in other areas of electrical operations.
  • Become familiar with the quality system and administrative procedures.
  • Write and review concise, objective, and informative reports, and documents.
  • Perform inspections and field evaluations at remote client sites.
  • Interact effectively and professionally with customers and staff, as required.
  • Ensure work complies with the quality system.
  • Travel throughout UAE and GCC as business dictates.
  • Be part of an energetic team with a can-do attitude.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager or its designee.
  • Leading the end-to-end bid process, including opportunity identification, qualification, and proposal submission.
  • Developing and executing bid strategies that align with the company’s goals and client requirements.
  • Coordinating with various teams, including sales, technical, legal and finance to ensure all aspects of a bid are addressed.
  • Managing bidding budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure on-time and high-quality proposal submissions.
  • Identifying new business opportunities by monitoring public and private sector tender portals.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate bid documentation, including bid files, records of communication and pricing information.
  • Participating in negotiation sessions to secure favorable terms and conditions while focusing on profitability.
  • Ensuring compliance with client requirements, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Monitoring and evaluating bid performance metrics to identify areas for improvement

Skills

Qualifications:


  • Qualified in a recognized engineering degree discipline with good experience within an electrical/mechanical background or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Hazardous Area Competence qualifications such as CompEx Ex01-Ex06, Ex11, Ex12, Ex14
  • Experience in applying all relevant disciplines of Explosion protection principles.
  • In-depth experience and knowledge of Ex d, Ex e, Ex m, Ex i, Ex p, Ex h, Ex t,
  • In-depth experience and Knowledge of 60079-14 (Installation) and 60079-17(Inspection)
  • Good understanding and application of current certification processes.
  • Working knowledge of UAE and GCC safety applied directives and relevant standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and customer service skills are necessary.
  • A flexible work ethic is essential as the candidate will be required to travel during the week to customer locations, both in and potentially outside of the UAE.
  • Excellent IT Skills And Experience of Microsoft Office.
  • UAE Driving License


Desirable Criteria:


  • 8+ years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess bid opportunities and develop winning strategies.
  • ISO 9001 Lead Audit qualifications for customer sites to ensure continued compliance as part of certification including experience of BS EN ISO 80079-34
  • Knowledge and experience of certification processes and application
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Arabic Language preferred, no essential
