Technical Management of Vessels
- Oversee the technical operations, maintenance, and repair activities of all machinery and systems on the company's vessels.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure high levels of vessel availability and operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and other technical issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth operations.
Supervision and Leadership
- Lead and guide the engineering crew onboard, ensuring they follow best practices and safety standards in all technical tasks.
- Provide continuous training and professional development to enhance the team's technical skills and performance.
- Ensure adherence to the vessel's operational protocols and international safety regulations.
Compliance and Safety
- Ensure that all technical and engineering activities comply with maritime safety and environmental standards, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM Code.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, inspections, and audits as required by regulatory bodies and classification societies.
- Coordinate with port authorities and surveyors to facilitate smooth inspections and surveys, ensuring vessels meet all compliance standards.
Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget for each vessel, controlling costs while maintaining high standards of performance.
- Oversee the procurement of spare parts, equipment, and materials, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and contractors to negotiate favorable terms for technical services and repairs.
Vessel Operations Support
- Work closely with the Technical Superintendent and Operations Manager to ensure seamless day-to-day operations of the vessel fleet.
- Provide technical support during dry-docking, vessel modifications, or emergency repairs.
- Analyze data on vessel performance and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Documentation and Reporting
- Keep detailed records of all technical activities, maintenance tasks, and incidents affecting the vessel's performance.
- Prepare regular reports on vessel conditions and present recommendations for improvements to senior management.
- Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and support audit processes.
Skills
-Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
-Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and industry best practices.
