The role
The FP&A Accountant is responsible for supporting financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting functions. This role involves analysing financial data, preparing reports, providing insights into financial performance, and assisting in strategic decision-making. The FP&A Accountant will ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded, with a particular focus on expense management, variance analysis, and financial reporting. They will also assist senior management by generating key insights into business performance and conducting financial risk analyses.
The responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, highlighting variances in revenue and expenses.
Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning.
Partner with department heads to understand their financial needs, analyse spending, and provide financial guidance.
Provide support in financial decision-making by analysing financial data and offering insights on trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
Assist in creating and refining budgeting templates, ensuring accuracy and ease of use across departments.
Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis to assess business performance, profitability, and potential investments.
Offer recommendations based on financial insights to help improve business performance.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Assist in preparing the annual budget, collaborating with departments for data collection and alignment with strategic goals.
Conduct rolling forecasts and manage CAPEX budgeting to support updated financial outlooks.
Monitor budget utilization, providing monthly reports and ensuring spending aligns with allocations.
Prepare detailed reports on revenue and costs across products, segments, and profit centers, supporting strategic decision-making.
Provide actionable insights on financial performance, advising on budget deviations.
Support business planning with professional judgment on financial matters, focusing on growth and performance improvements.
Communicate complex financial data to non-financial managers to aid decision-making.
Liaise with functional managers to align finances with organizational objectives.
Implement governance, risk management, and internal controls for operational integrity.
Oversee payment and receipt processing, ensuring timely ERP updates.
Financial Reporting
Prepare and deliver periodic financial reports for senior management, highlighting key metrics, budget vs. actual variances, and financial performance.
Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including profitability analyses by product, department, or project.
Maintain financial ledgers, departmental budgeting reports, and expense records.
Provide regular reports on provisions, billing, and revenues across service areas, ensuring ERP data consistency to support timely and informed strategic decisions.
Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of financial reporting and planning activities.
Work closely with IT and other teams to upgrade and optimize financial planning and reporting systems.
Leverage best practices and stay current with industry standards in FP&A, contributing to the continuous development of the FP&A function.
Follow up on audit findings and ensure implementation of recommendations.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
MBA in Finance or Chartered Accountant certification.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Finance and Accounts.
At least 3 years in a role directly related to FP&A functions, where the candidate has developed and managed budgets, conducted regular financial analyses, and provided insights into business performance to support strategic decision-making.
Experience in industries with complex financial structures or in multinational environments is beneficial, as these settings often require advanced financial skills and adaptability to various business models.
Ideally, candidates should have experience collaborating with multiple departments, advising stakeholders on financial matters, and supporting cross-functional projects.
Knowledge of SAP FICO system is required.
Excellent knowledge in MS Office software with advance expertise in MS Excel.
Knowledge of IFRS and VAT
Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
Excellent analytical ability, and excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects and interact with all levels of management.
Responds well in fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Fluent in English.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
