External Audit Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage external audit engagements from planning to final reporting, ensuring audits are conducted in accordance with International standards on auditing (ISA), IFRS, local mainland and free zones regulations.
  • Perform complex audits, Plan, supervise and perform a review of financial statements and financial data for clients, including due diligence and external audits.
  • Develop audit objectives, plans, and scope by reviewing available information.
  • Oversee audit teams, ensuring timely completion of audit fieldwork, quality control, and adherence to established procedures.
  • Supervise, delegate and mentor junior auditors, accounting and tax professionals, providing guidance, training, and feedback to ensure high-quality work and professional development. Delegate audit and tax tasks effectively, managing workloads and ensuring deadlines are met. Review the work of junior team members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific needs and providing tailored solutions. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during audits, addressing client concerns and queries promptly and professionally.
  • Report and present findings to the audit director and client, making recommendations for solutions and improvements to policies/procedures
  • Ensure the business complies with all relevant internal controls requirements, industry benchmarks, regulations and government legislation.
  • Identify potential audit issues, propose solutions, and provide recommendations to clients on improving internal controls and financial reporting practices.
  • Prepare, review, and present audit findings to clients, highlighting key issues, risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Preparation and review of tax computations, returns and other related documents in compliance with the UAE tax laws.
  • Ensure that all audit work papers are thorough, properly documented, and comply with professional and regulatory standards and with clear support for audit conclusions and tax advice.
  • Prepare audit findings, write audit reports, and develop recommendations. Ensure compliance with all applicable plans, policies, standards and taxation regulations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, knowledge of corporate affairs and best accounting and audit practices in UAE.
  • Conduct tax research and analysis to stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, providing clients with up-to-date guidance and tax-saving strategies.
  • Coordinate with other tax specialists and departments (e.g., transfer pricing, international tax, indirect taxes) to deliver comprehensive tax solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for business development by leveraging existing client relationships and identifying new business prospects for audit and tax services.
  • Assist in the preparation of marketing materials, client proposals, budgets and presentations for new client pitches, contributing to the growth of the firm’s audit and tax practice. Promote cross-selling of audit and tax services to existing clients.

Skills

  • Professional certifications such as CA or CA finalist, ACCA.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience including 1-2 years of experience in an audit practice in UAE.
  • Deep understanding of ISA, IFRS and UAE corporate tax laws and VAT.
  • Proficient in audit and accounting software. Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities and leadership skills.
  • Strong client management skills, with a focus on building trust and providing value-added advice.
