Job Summary:
An AC (Air Conditioning) technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. They are responsible for ensuring that air conditioning units work efficiently and safely, and may also perform preventative maintenance tasks to keep units in good condition.
Responsibilities:
- Installing and setting up air conditioning systems, electrical connections, and refrigerant lines
- Inspecting and testing air conditioning units to diagnose malfunctions
- Repairing or replacing faulty parts, such as compressors, motors, and thermostats
- Recharging air conditioning units with refrigerant as needed
- Performing preventative maintenance tasks, such as cleaning filters and coils, checking electrical connections, and lubricating moving parts
- Responding to service calls and customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Keeping accurate records of work performed and parts used
- Ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations
Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a technical program in HVAC or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Familiarity with electrical systems and wiring diagrams
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency service calls as needed
