Position: CHEMICAL ENGINEER
Primary Responsibilities:
o Receive and inspect raw gold, scrap, or other gold-bearing materials for refining.
o Assess the quality and content of the materials to determine the appropriate refining process.
o Accurately weigh and record the quantity of incoming materials.
o Operate refining equipment such as furnaces, electrolytic cells, and chemical baths to purify gold to the desired level of purity.
o Conduct chemical reactions and processes such as smelting, chlorination, aqua regia, or electrolysis to remove impurities from the gold.
o Control and monitor the refining process to ensure that the highest standards of purity are achieved.
o Perform regular testing and analysis of the refined gold to ensure it meets industry and client specifications.
· Use equipment such as PH meter, and other testing tools to verify the purity of the gold.
· Adjust refining processes based on test results to achieve optimal purity and yield.
o Follow strict safety procedures to protect personnel and equipment during the refining process.
o Ensure that all refining operations comply with local and international environmental regulations.
o Manage the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste products generated during refining.
o Maintain accurate records of all refining activities, including material intake, refining methods used, and the final output of refined gold.
o Document the purity levels achieved and any adjustments made to the refining process.
o Prepare reports for management and clients detailing the refining results and the quantities of refined gold produced.
o Manage the inventory of raw materials, chemicals, and finished products within the refinery.
o Coordinate with procurement and sales teams to ensure a steady supply of materials and timely dispatch of refined products.
o Monitor stock levels and reorder supplies as needed to maintain continuous operation.
o Perform regular maintenance on refining equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
o Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
o Stay updated on the latest technologies, methods, and best practices in gold refining.
o Implement new techniques or equipment that can enhance the refinery's productivity and product quality.
o Ensure strict security measures are in place to safeguard the gold and other precious materials throughout the refining process.
Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
Proficiency in Laboratory Skills and hands-on experience in the Chemical Industry
Expertise in Process Chemical Engineering
Excellent Communication skills
Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field
Relevant certifications and industry experience are a plus
