Overview Of The Role
The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for managing the contractual and commercial aspects of projects, leading a team of project-specific commercial staff to deliver projects on time and within budget. The role involves providing commercial services aligned with group policies and processes. The manager is expected to minimize risks, maximize investment returns, and ensure best value is achieved through strategic procurement, contract management, and commercial advice. The role also entails leading and developing the team, ensuring effective procurement, and implementing efficient processes.
What You Will Do:
Technical
- Provide commercial advice to internal clients to minimize risks and maximize return on investment by ensuring best value is achieved on all projects.
- Advise project team on procurement, ensuring compliance with time, quality, and cost standards.
- Assist in preparing feasibility studies and presentations for project development.
- Prepare Requests for Proposal/Invitation to bid documents, lead the tender process, and prepare final recommendations.
- Adapt standard form of contracts for consultant and contractor agreements with the Group legal department.
Commercial Management
- Manage and provide pre and post contract Quantity Surveying services, including cost estimating, monthly accounts, and final account settlement.
- Monitor project insurance policies relevant to construction works.
- Report on portfolio costs, budgets, and risks monthly.
- Manage claims and disputes using appropriate resources, ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
- Develop and update an internal cost database.
People Management
- Lead, coach, and motivate staff to develop their potential and increase effectiveness.
- Ensure team understands procurement processes and procedures.
- Identify training needs and facilitate staff development.
Process Management
- Adapt standard contracts for maintenance, service agreements, and purchases, aligning with Group legal.
- Ensure compliance with organizational forms and processes.
- Review and implement improved administrative procedures for operational efficiency.
- Draft and approve various reports such as RFA and BCP.

What Qualifies You For The Role
- Degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in managing major projects, preferably for a client, contractor, or PQS.
- 10-15 years of experience in sectors including Infrastructure, Retail, Residential, High Rise, and Hotel construction. UAE experience is preferred.
- Proven experience with FIDIC contracts and success in managing large-scale projects from inception to handover.
- Proficiency in MS Office suites, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Manager with fluency in English.
