Your impact
Jacobs is seeking an Engineering Manager – Rail to support the delivery of transformative rail and mobility projects in Dubai. In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver technically robust, safe, and innovative rail solutions across metro, high‑speed, freight, and regional rail systems.
You will work closely with clients, authorities, and project partners to guide engineering delivery from concept through commissioning, ensuring our solutions align with regional visions. This is an opportunity to influence some of the world’s most ambitious rail programs, champion digital and sustainable design, and help Jacobs create a more connected, resilient, and people‑focused future for the region.
Here’s what you will do:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of rail engineers across multiple disciplines.
- Oversee engineering delivery across all project stages, including concept, preliminary design, detailed design, construction support, testing, and commissioning.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements, client expectations, and regional authority standards.
- Drive interface management across civil, systems, rolling stock, utilities, and operational stakeholders.
- Support project controls by contributing to schedule development, risk registers, cost estimates, and change management.
- Lead technical reviews, design assurance processes, and readiness assessments for key project milestones.
- Allocate resources, manage workloads, and ensure high‑quality engineering outputs.
- Review and validate engineering calculations, design reports, specifications, BIM models, and IFC packages.
- Ensure compliance with international standards (EN, IEC, AREMA), Middle East authority requirements, and Jacobs’ internal quality frameworks.
- Champion digital engineering, model‑based design, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary technical interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and government authorities.
- Support procurement activities including technical specifications, tender evaluations, and scope definition.
- Lead technical workshops, design coordination meetings, and interface resolution sessions.
- Provide engineering input for environmental, sustainability, and operational planning requirements.
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline); Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of rail engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Strong understanding of rail infrastructure, systems integration, and operational constraints.
- Experience delivering major rail, metro, or light rail projects.
- Professional registration i.e. CEng, PE, PMP is an advantage.
