Role Purpose


The Senior Supervisor - Landscape is the primary leader responsible for the day-to-day operations, quality control, and management of all landscaping maintenance and minor project activities across the designated site or portfolio. This role requires a blend of hands-on horticulture expertise and strong leadership skills to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest aesthetic standards, while managing staff, equipment, and resources effectively.


Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities


1. Team Leadership & Operational Management
•    Supervision & Scheduling: Directly supervise and lead landscape teams, including foremen and crew members. Develop and implement daily, weekly, and seasonal work schedules to ensure all grounds maintenance tasks (mowing, pruning, weeding, pest control) are completed on time.
•    Performance Management: Train, coach, and evaluate team members on best practices, equipment usage, safety procedures, and quality standards. Manage on-site discipline and attendance.
•    Resource Allocation: Manage and maintain inventory of materials, tools, and equipment (vehicles, mowers, irrigators). Ensure all equipment is operational and scheduled for preventive maintenance.
2. Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance
•    Horticulture Expertise: Oversee the application of best horticultural practices for plant health, soil management, fertilization, and pest/disease control for various plants, turf, and hardscapes.
•    Quality Control: Conduct regular, thorough inspections of the property to ensure landscape presentation meets or exceeds established quality standards and contract specifications.
•    Irrigation Management: Manage and monitor the site's irrigation system (including smart controllers and drip lines), ensuring efficient water usage, system functionality, and necessary seasonal adjustments.
•    Minor Project Management: Lead small-scale landscape improvement projects, including new installations, seasonal plantings, and hardscape repairs, coordinating with external contractors when necessary.
3. Safety, Compliance, and Administration
•    Safety Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, especially concerning the use of machinery, chemicals (pesticides/herbicides), and proper lifting techniques. Conduct regular safety briefings and toolbox talks.
•    Budget Support: Track labor hours, materials used, and equipment costs. Assist the Manager in monitoring the operational budget and provide input for annual budget planning.
•    Reporting: Prepare detailed daily and weekly activity reports, including progress against schedule, resource issues, incident reports, and quality assessment results.
 


Knowledge & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a similar field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in commercial or municipal landscape maintenance, including
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or foreman role leading large crews.
  • Strong, verifiable knowledge of regional plant varieties, soil science, pest and disease identification, and treatment.
  • Proven expertise in operating and maintaining landscape equipment and large-scale irrigation systems.
  • Valid local driving license is required.
  • Relevant certifications in Pesticide/Herbicide Application, Irrigation Auditing, or recognized horticultural bodies (e.g., CLT, ISA) are a significant advantage
