Role overview:
We are looking for a Director Solution Consultant to partner closely with our Commercial teams and customers, providing technical and solution design expertise across card-present and e-commerce payment gateway opportunities across the Middle East.
This is a customer-facing role where you’ll use your technical knowledge to provide sales support and act as the bridge between sales, product, engineering, and delivery—helping prospects and clients understand how Planet’s products and solutions can support their business objectives and solve their payment challenges.
You will be responsible for managing the entire solution lifecycle, collaborating with commercial teams and customers to identify opportunities, define customer requirements, and initiate internal projects and delivery processes. Your efforts will ensure successful implementation and deployment, directly contributing to both project outcomes and revenue growth.
What you will do:
Support Commercial teams throughout the sales lifecycle, from discovery through close, for integrated payment gateway opportunities (in-store and online).
Act as the technical and solutions expert for card-present and e-commerce integrations, APIs, SDKs, terminals, and platform capabilities.
Lead customer discovery sessions to understand business requirements, technical environments, and integration needs.
Design end-to-end payment solutions tailored to customer use cases, including POS integrations, online checkout flows, and omnichannel experiences.
Deliver compelling solution presentations and product demonstrations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Respond to RFPs/RFIs and contribute to proposals with solution architectures and technical content.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to provide feedback from the field and influence roadmap priorities.
Support proof-of-concepts and pilot implementations where required.
Ensure smooth handover from sales to implementation, documenting solution designs and customer requirements.
Stay current on Planet’s product portfolio, payment technologies, and industry trends.
Who you are:
Experience in a Solutions Consultant, Sales Engineer, or Technical Pre-Sales role within payments.
Strong technical knowledge or understanding of payment ecosystems, including:
Card-present payments (Oracle, Shiji, Agilysys, etc)
E-commerce gateways and online checkout
APIs and system integrations
Comfortable engaging with both business and technical stakeholders.
Experience supporting enterprise or mid-market commercial sales teams.
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Familiarity with POS systems, commerce platforms, or hospitality/retail environments is a plus.
Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
Hands-on experience with payment gateways or acquiring platforms (nice to have).
Knowledge of omnichannel commerce architectures (nice to have).
Experience with REST APIs and basic integration concepts (nice to have).
Background in hospitality or retail technology (nice to have).
