Job Description:
The Department of Economics and Finance at the College of Business and Economics, United Arab Emirates University, invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position in Energy Economics and Finance, with a strong focus on Energy Transition. The successful candidate will join an active research program examining topics related to energy transition, renewable energy investment, climate finance, and sustainable energy markets. The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to high-quality academic research and collaborate on projects involving large-scale energy, financial, and environmental datasets. The postdoctoral fellow will report to and work under the supervision of the PI, Dr. Zakaria Boulanouar, within the Department of Economics and Finance. This is an on-campus position, and remote work is not available. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on excellent research progress and project deliverables. Key Responsibilities: • Conduct high-quality research in Energy Economics and Finance with an emphasis on Energy Transition. • Develop and implement empirical research projects using advanced econometric and quantitative methods. • Analyze large datasets related to energy markets, renewable energy investments, climate policy, and financial markets. • Contribute to publishing research findings in leading peer-reviewed journals. • Collaborate with the research team on ongoing projects and participate in research meetings and academic discussions. • Support the development of research proposals and contribute to the broader research agenda of the team. Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Economics, Finance, Energy Economics, Environmental Economics, or a closely related field from an accredited university. • Demonstrated research capability with publications or strong working papers in relevant fields. • Strong quantitative and econometric skills. • Proficiency in statistical and programming tools such as R, Python, STATA, MATLAB, or similar software. • Familiarity with financial and economic databases such as Bloomberg, CRSP, Compustat, Refinitiv, or similar sources. • Knowledge of energy transition, renewable energy systems, climate finance, or energy policy is highly desirable. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a research team.
