Job DescriptionOverview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering or Operations professional to join our Nuclear Middle East AtkinsRéalis team. In this role, you will work on diverse technical projects that support nuclear utilities in strengthening system performance, maintenance strategies, asset management practices, and operational decision‑making. You will partner with client engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to conduct system studies, analyze equipment behaviour, evaluate degradation mechanisms, and recommend safety‑aligned, practical solutions that improve long‑term plant performance and reliability.

This position offers collaboration with utility engineering, operations, and maintenance teams – both on‑site and remotely – to propose improvements and strengthen long‑term system reliability and plant performance. Candidates with strong experience in nuclear plant systems, operations support, maintenance engineering, safety analysis, or reliability‑oriented engineering in heavy‑industrial sectors are encouraged to apply.

Your role
  • Work collaboratively with client engineering, maintenance, reliability, and operations teams to assess system and equipment performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend practical improvements.

  • Support clients in developing or optimizing maintenance and asset strategies—preventive, predictive, condition‑based, and risk‑informed—using industry best practices.

  • Perform or support structured troubleshooting, root cause analysis for client-identified equipment and system issues and help translate findings into actionable corrective measures.

  • Prepare high‑quality technical reports, including FMEA reports, Engineering Advise reports, presentations, and proposals for client stakeholders and senior leadership, clearly communicating observations, analysis, and recommendations.

  • Collaborate effectively with multi‑disciplinary client teams to ensure solutions are practical, sustainable, and aligned with nuclear safety, defence‑in‑depth, and operational excellence principles.

  • Travel to client sites, as required for project execution, assessments, workshops, and stakeholder engagement.

About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering (required); Master’s Degree in above disciplines optional

  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Reliability Maintenance Professional (RMP)

  • 5 to 12 years of engineering experience in Nuclear Power Plants, Oil & Gas facilities, thermal power plants, petrochemical plants, or other heavy industrial environments. Experience may include roles in systems engineering, maintenance engineering, operations support, reliability engineering, commissioning, or technical troubleshooting.

  • Experience working with engineering documentation, including P&IDs, equipment datasheets, specifications, maintenance procedures, and change management workflows

  • A proven track record in consulting, technical advisory, or client‑facing engineering roles supporting nuclear utilities, power plants, or industrial facilities is highly valued.

  • Hands‑on exposure to plant systems, rotating equipment, static equipment, process systems, or utility systems, with responsibility for performance monitoring, issue resolution, or maintenance/operations decision support.

  • Experience in areas such as equipment diagnostics, maintenance planning, condition monitoring, failure investigation, or asset lifecycle management will be considered a strong asset.

  • Prior involvement in commissioning, plant start‑ups, shutdowns/turnarounds, field engineering, or equipment/system upgrades is an added advantage.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with multi‑disciplinary teams (Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Procurement, Quality), and familiarity with structured technical problem‑solving methods.

  • Experience in performing technical assessments, evaluating engineering options, preparing FMEAs, preparing recommendations, or supporting management decisions using structured engineering judgment.

  • Familiarity with industry codes, safety standards, and regulatory expectations applicable to utility or industrial environments (e.g., ASME, EPRI, API, IEC, IAEA  standards).

  • Familiarity with INPO AP-913 and WANO Performance Objectives & Criteria (PO&C) is desirable.

  • Ability to coordinate with cross‑functional teams, vendors, OEMs, and contractors to resolve equipment issues or support project milestones.
