Roles & Responsibilities
As a Secondary Engineer, you will be part of our Engineering Team and will play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions for TAQA TRANSMISSION and DEWA transmission substation projects.
Support and manage all secondary engineering activities from project initiation through final As-Built documentation in strict accordance with TAQA TRANSMISSION / DEWA standards, project specifications, and internal QA/QC and HSE requirements.
Role includes protection & control design, SCADA/telecom integrations, interface
engineering, and technical support during erection, testing, and commissioning.
Assist to Lead Engineer for review the Protection SLDs, AC/DC schematics, interlocking diagrams, logic diagrams, and system architecture.
Support the technical aspects of procurement including preparation of equipment specifications, evaluation of supplier bids, and conducting technical clarifications and negotiations.
Act as secondary engineer for complex HV/EHV AIS and GIS substations, typically 132 kV, 220 kV, 400 kV and above, in line with TAQA TRANSMISSION / DEWA grid requirements.
Prepare and review the Cable schedules & routing, Control room layouts, AC & DC system calculations (battery/charger sizing), Panel GA drawings, wiring diagrams
Control & protection panel designs
Interface engineering between primary, civil & telecom systems
Prepare and review the technical deviations, and clarifications.
Support site teams during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
Technically evaluate supplier/subcontractor documents as per TAQA TRANSMISSION
/DEWA standards and project specifications.
Desired Candidate Profile
Experience Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
10-12 years of experience in Secondary engineering for HV/EHV substations.
Experience with utilities such as TAQA TRANSMISSION, DEWA, FEWA or international utilities.
Strong understanding of authority systems, standards, and grid codes in the UAE.
