Job description

We are seeking an experienced and meticulous Gearbox Repair Technician to join our growing service team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, overhauling, and troubleshooting industrial gearboxes, with a strong focus on high-torque and precision rotating equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Inspect and diagnose faults in planetary, helical, bevel, worm, geared motors and other industrial gearboxes. Detect issues such as gear wear, bearing failures, shaft misalignment, and housing fatigue.
• Overhaul & Repair: Perform complete dismantling, cleaning, inspection, repair, and reassembly of complex industrial gearboxes to original OEM specifications.
• Precision Component Replacement: Replace worn or damaged bearings, oil seals, shafts, keys, and gear components. Use shrink-fit methods (thermal heating or cooling) where necessary.
• Measurements & Quality Control: Conduct shaft alignment, gear backlash measurements, and tooth contact pattern inspections using professional engineering tools.
• Documentation: Prepare detailed technical service reports documenting findings, measurements (before and after), parts replaced, and recommendations.
• Safety & Standards: Maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere strictly to industrial workshop safety practices (PPE, lock-out/tag-out, proper chemical and lifting safety).

Skills

• Experience: 2 - 5 years of dedicated hands-on experience in industrial gearbox repair and overhauling (planetary gearbox overhaul experience is a major advantage) or similar industrial mechanical experience.
• Technical Knowledge: Strong mechanical aptitude, understanding of interference fits, tolerances, and mechanical power transmission systems.
• Measuring Instruments: Highly proficient in using precision tools, including dial indicators/gauges, micrometers, vernier calipers, and torque wrenches.
• Diagnostics: Excellent logical problem-solving and diagnostic ability for rotating machinery.
• Environment: Experience working in heavy industrial workshops, steel mills, cement plants, marine yards, or rotating equipment service centers.
• UAE Driving License is an added advantage.

Qualifications

• Education: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or ITI
• Certifications: Specialized training in gearbox maintenance, laser shaft alignment, or bearing installation is highly valued.
• Language: Good communication skills in English, Malayalam and Hindi.
