ROLE OVERVIEW
The Costuming Technician is responsible for the overall care and maintenance of all costume, prop and puppet pieces that are utilized in the live entertainment program, as well as building the new show props & costume elements in-house where requested. This position works closely with the Senior Director of Costuming, Costuming Management, Seamstresses, Prosthetics, Hair & Makeup Artist, Costuming Attendants and other members of the Entertainment Department to ensure costumes are maintained at the highest possible quality level. This position works with the Miral Experiences team as an active participant in achieving artistic goals, ensuring consistent quality, sharing knowledge with the team, supporting production and execution of events and shows while maintaining a positive attitude in the workplace, guaranteeing high standards in the delivery of all offerings and preserving production and execution values across the properties.
ROLE SCOPE
Daily Operation Duties, Building & Repairing Costumes Fabricates and repairs costumes, character/mascot and craft pieces, props & puppets including building, painting, airbrushing, gluing, fixing electrical systems and more Alters and repairs existing costumes, props and any other costume or prop element with high attention to detail and skilled craftsmanship to ensure show/costume quality Helps crew with daily laundry, including washing, hanging, ironing and steaming costume pieces as needed Helps Senior Director of Costuming in maintaining accurate and up to date costume inventory Keeps track of supplies and places orders for replacement in a timely manner Maintains communication throughout the Costuming Department Performs other duties as requested by senior management
Other Duties Assists in a team leader capacity with other functions within entertainment when required Attends department meetings as requested Interfaces with all colleagues and outside vendors in a professional and courteous manner Assists with administrative tasks when needed Has the ability to carry and move relatively heavy items Shares information and best practices with other colleagues Develops and helps maintain up to date documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:Higher secondary or equivalent education Minimum of 2 years of artistic craft experience Painting, drawing, gluing, sculpting, airbrushing, electrical systems knowledge Carpentry knowledge Working with sewing machine and hand sewing Experience working with glues and solvents Proficiency in English Previous experience working with performers Computer skills: Word, Excel, Power Point Attention to detail and highly organized
Desirable:Associate degree or higher in theatre or fine arts5 years fine arts background3 years of experience within theme park, theatrical productions or cruise ships Costume repair and manufacturing background Advanced level computer proficiency Specialization in costume technology3D printing knowledge and experience Industrial and domestic sewing machines proficiency Experienced working with character/mascot costume pieces Theme Park experience People management skills
