The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who will proactively improve the quality systems of the company through internal audits, participation in process improvement programs, and interaction with key partners to obtain constructive feedback.
Responsibilities Establish, implement and maintain QA/QC policies, procedures, Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), forms, registers and reporting systems in line with ISO 9001 and applicable marine standards. Ensure all inspection, testing and verification activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, client requirements and classification society rules. Review project quality requirements during tender, planning and execution stages and ensure adequate inspection coverage. Lead internal and external audits, management reviews and quality performance evaluations. Review, approve and monitor NCRs, root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive actions. Evaluate and monitor suppliers, subcontractors and third-party inspection agencies. Provide quality leadership to Engineering, Production, Procurement, Project and Operations teams. Prepare quality performance reports, KPI dashboards, risk summaries and management presentations. Act as the principal point of contact for client quality concerns, inspections and surveillance activities. Promote a culture of right-first-time workmanship, continual improvement and proactive quality risk management. Ensure QA/QC activities comply with HSE requirements, company policies and applicable legal obligations.
Key Competencies Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001, marine QA/QC practices and audit management. Sound understanding of IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, Classification Society Rules and ASME, AWS, API, ASTM & ISO standards. Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary QA/QC teams across multiple projects. Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management and root cause analysis skills. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, quality plans and inspection requirements. Working knowledge of NDT, welding inspection, material control, painting/coating, piping, mechanical and electrical inspection. High level of integrity, documentation discipline and professional judgement.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline. Minimum 10 years of progressive QA/QC experience, including leadership experience in marine, shipbuilding, ship repair, offshore, oil & gas, heavy fabrication or industrial projects. ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification preferred. Certifications such as AWS-CWI/CSWIP, NDT, Six Sigma, PMP or NEBOSH will be an added
