Job Title: Senior Mechanical Inspector Department: Site Supervision
Job Description:The Senior Mechanical Inspector is responsible for supervising and inspecting Mechanical works to ensure compliance with contract specifications, industry standards, and project requirements. The role involves conducting material sampling and testing, reviewing contractorsubmissions, identifying and rectifying non-conformities, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a relatedfield Minimum of 10 years’experience in Mechanical inspection, preferably within the construction or engineering consultancy industry Experience with large-scale infrastructure or building/ Villa projects in Abu Dabhi Knowledge of international standards and regulations relatedto Mechanical works Certification in quality andsafety management is an advantage Experience in the UAE/Middle East is preferred
Key Responsibilities Keep, monitor and followup as necessary and maintain complete record(s) concerning the execution of the works Inspection, sampling and testing of materials to assure thatcompliance with the contract specification Sampling for testing of construction material to confirm compliance with the contract specification Identify non-conforming work or materials, notifycontractor and keep a record. Follow up corrective and preventive measure taken by the Contractor Assist in the reviewand forward comments on the contractor’s method statement for execution of the works Assist in the reviewand forward anycomments on thecontractor’s technical submittals Attend site technical coordination meetings to discuss contractor (s) submissions, shop drawings, material submittals and construction related matters Carry out the finalinspection for certification of final completion and handing over of the works Assist in the reviewand forward comments on the Technical Query raised by the contractor Inspect the work done by the contractor(s) to ascertain thatwork is executed in accordance with the Contract Documents and accepted practise Inspect the on-site and off-site materials to be used in the project and organise field and laboratory tests, conducted by others, on construction materials to ascertain their compliance with the specifications and determine it acceptability for use on the project Identify potential safety concerns and inform thecontractor(s) Review the site progress and assist in the reviewof the contractor’s interim payment application Liaise with the RE for the effective implementation of the quality management systems and site supervision provision activities
Skills and competencies Strong understanding of Mechanical systems, installations, and testing procedures Proficiency in quality assurance and quality control(QA/QC) procedures Ability to interpret and enforce contract specifications and construction standards Attention to detail and problem-solving skills Excellent coordination and communication abilities Strong reporting and documentation skills Familiarity with safety regulations and statutory authority requirements Ability to work independently and as partof a multidisciplinary team.
