Job Details

  • Assist in the execution and supervision of electrical works for power projects, substations, and associated infrastructure.

  • Review approved electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, equipment layouts, and technical specifications.

  • Coordinate electrical activities with civil, structural, mechanical, MEP, protection, control, and commissioning teams.

  • Supervise installation of transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, GIS/AIS equipment, CTs, PTs/CVTs, isolators, busbars, panels, and auxiliary systems.

  • Ensure electrical installation activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements.

  • Assist in reviewing electrical shop drawings, material submittals, technical documents, and vendor documentation.

  • Coordinate with procurement and stores teams to ensure timely availability of approved electrical materials and equipment.

  • Supervise cable laying, cable tray installation, cable termination, jointing, tagging, and testing activities.

  • Assist in installation of earthing and lightning protection systems, including earth grids and equipment earthing.

  • Supervise installation of AC/DC auxiliary systems, battery chargers, batteries, UPS systems, lighting, small power, and station-service systems.

  • Coordinate with protection and control teams for installation of protection panels, control panels, metering systems, and associated wiring.

  • Assist with SCADA, RTU, communication, automation, and substation control system interfaces.

  • Monitor site progress and ensure electrical activities are completed according to project schedules and milestones.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, consultants, clients, and site teams to resolve technical and construction issues.

  • Raise and follow up RFIs, technical queries, inspection requests, and site-related technical matters.

  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify installation quality, workmanship, and compliance with approved drawings.

  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections, testing, and closure of NCRs, punch points, and inspection observations.

  • Assist in testing and commissioning activities, including insulation resistance, continuity, cable testing, equipment testing, functional testing, and protection system testing.

  • Coordinate with testing and commissioning teams during pre-commissioning, energization, and final handover activities.

  • Ensure electrical works comply with applicable IEC standards, UAE regulations, utility requirements, project specifications, and client standards.

  • Monitor electrical material usage, manpower, productivity, and equipment utilization.

  • Assist in quantity verification, material take-offs, variations, additional works, and material requirements.

  • Identify electrical installation risks, technical issues, and interface constraints and escalate them for timely resolution.

  • Ensure compliance with project HSE procedures, electrical safety requirements, risk assessments, LOTO, and permit-to-work systems.

  • Participate in technical coordination meetings, progress meetings, and site inspections.

  • Prepare daily and weekly progress reports and maintain relevant engineering and construction records.

  • Maintain documentation including approved drawings, inspection records, test reports, material certificates, commissioning records, and as-built information.

  • Assist in snagging, rectification, testing, commissioning, energization, and project handover.

  • Provide technical support to supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, and junior site personnel.

  • Support continuous improvement in electrical installation quality, productivity, safety, and project execution.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Typically 3–7 years of relevant electrical engineering/construction experience, preferably within power, substations, EPC, transmission, distribution, or infrastructure projects.

  • Good knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, installation practices, testing, and commissioning.

  • Exposure to transformers, switchgear, GIS/AIS equipment, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs/CVTs, isolators, busbars, and electrical panels.

  • Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, layouts, and technical specifications.

  • Knowledge of cable installation, termination, earthing, lightning protection, and auxiliary power systems.

  • Basic understanding of protection and control, metering, SCADA, automation, and communication systems.

  • Knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning procedures.

  • Familiarity with IEC standards, UAE electrical regulations, utility requirements, and project specifications.

  • Experience coordinating with consultants, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Understanding of QA/QC procedures, inspection requirements, method statements, and ITPs.

  • Good knowledge of electrical safety, LOTO, permit-to-work, and safe working practices.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant engineering/project documentation tools.

  • Strong communication, coordination, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work on site and manage multiple activities within project timelines.

  • UAE/GCC project experience is preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in HV/EHV substations, transmission and distribution projects, utility infrastructure, or major EPC projects.

  • Exposure to GIS/AIS substations, transformers, protection and control systems, SCADA, and substation automation.

  • Experience in electrical testing and commissioning will be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with DEWA, TAQA/TRANSCO, or other UAE utility/client requirements.

  • Experience working with major EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and utility clients.

  • Relevant electrical engineering certification or professional membership will be an advantage.
