About the Job Role Description An Interior Design Assistant supports interior designers and project teams in developing, organizing, and delivering residential, commercial, hospitality, and other interior design projects. The role involves assisting with design concepts, preparing drawings and presentations, researching materials and finishes, coordinating samples, maintaining project documentation, and supporting project activities from initial concept through completion. The position is suitable for candidates with experience or education in interior design, architecture, space planning, visual design, or related creative fields. Previous experience in an interior design studio, architectural firm, furniture company, or fit-out environment is an advantage. Key Responsibilities Assist interior designers with the development of design concepts and project proposals. Research design styles, materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, fixtures, and decorative elements. Prepare mood boards, material boards, color palettes, and design presentations. Assist with preparing floor plans, elevations, layouts, and other design documentation under appropriate supervision. Support the preparation and organization of drawings, specifications, schedules, and project files. Assist with space planning and furniture layout based on project requirements. Prepare presentation materials for client meetings and internal design reviews. Create and update design presentations, visual references, and project documentation. Assist with selecting furniture, fabrics, finishes, accessories, lighting, and other interior elements. Research suppliers, manufacturers, products, materials, and pricing information. Request and organize material samples, product specifications, catalogs, and quotations. Maintain an organized library of samples, finishes, product information, and supplier details. Assist designers with client presentations and design meetings. Record client feedback, requested revisions, and project decisions accurately. Update design concepts and documentation based on approved client feedback. Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, furniture vendors, manufacturers, and other project stakeholders. Follow up with suppliers regarding product availability, pricing, lead times, samples, and deliveries. Assist with preparing material and furniture schedules. Support the procurement process by organizing product information and supplier quotations. Assist with site visits and document site conditions, measurements, and project requirements. Take site measurements and photographs when required under appropriate supervision. Assist with monitoring project progress and identifying design-related issues. Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and other consultants when required. Assist with reviewing shop drawings, product submissions, and material samples for design consistency. Help verify that delivered materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes correspond with approved specifications. Maintain accurate project budgets, product costs, quotations, and procurement information when required. Assist with tracking project deadlines, deliverables, material orders, and installation schedules. Maintain organized digital and physical project files. Assist with preparing project reports, meeting notes, schedules, and documentation. Support the preparation of final design packages and project handover documentation. Stay informed about current interior design trends, materials, technologies, and sustainable design practices. Maintain professional communication with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal team members. Follow company procedures, project requirements, workplace health and safety standards, and applicable UAE regulations. Perform other interior design and project support duties as assigned. Requirements Diploma or bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, Visual Design, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in interior design, architecture, furniture, fit-out, or related creative environments is an advantage. Basic understanding of interior design principles, space planning, materials, finishes, furniture, and lighting. Ability to assist with design concepts, layouts, presentations, and project documentation. Familiarity with design software such as Auto CAD, Sketch Up, Revit, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar applications is an advantage. Good visual and creative skills. Strong attention to detail and design accuracy. Good understanding of color, materials, textures, proportions, and spatial relationships. Ability to interpret basic architectural and interior drawings. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple design tasks and project deadlines. Good research and product-sourcing skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to communicate professionally with clients, suppliers, contractors, and design professionals. Good presentation and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team. Strong problem-solving and coordination skills. Basic understanding of construction and interior fit-out processes is an advantage. Familiarity with furniture, lighting, finishes, and interior product specifications is beneficial. Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Professional design portfolio or examples of relevant academic/project work are an advantage. Ability to work on-site and attend project locations when required. Ability to work flexible hours when project deadlines require additional support. Knowledge of UAE interior design, construction, and fit-out practices is an advantage. Relevant UAE professional or technical certification is an advantage.
