Principal Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing engineering specifications for new projects, updating existing designs to meet new codes or standards, and troubleshooting problems with existing designs.
  • Conducting research on new technologies related to their field of work, such as robotics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, or computer-assisted design and manufacturing.
  • Providing technical support during the design process, including reviewing designs created by other engineers to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Conducting studies to determine whether new products are viable or if there are better alternatives available.
  • Consulting with engineers in other disciplines to ensure that designs are compatible with other systems disciplines.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations regarding the engineering field in which they are working.
  • Applying principles of physics to design machines vessels or structures
  • Conducting stress tests to determine the strength of materials such as metals or alloys or concrete by exposing them to high levels of stress over time or sudden shock loads to simulate earthquake or other natural conditions.
  • Preparing reports on findings and recommendations based on testing results.
  • Supervising and overseeing the completion of all engineering projects
  • Analyzing and assessing the material and labor costs for various projects
  • Reviewing and approving project designs and budgets
  • Coordination with other disciplines.
  • Communicating the project objectives and delegating tasks to the team members.
  • Conducting staff meetings and training sessions
  • Overseeing Mechanical equipment design and installation processes
  • Scheduling and performing quality control checks
  • Preparing and presenting product engineering reports
  • Assigning long and short-term project goals
  • Evaluating engineering blueprints
  • Interviewing and recruiting Engineers
  • Ensuring that the projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Negotiating project terms and conditions with others
  • Analyzing and resolving any disputes amongst the team members


Skills

Requirements

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant Mechanical engineering field
  • 15 to 20 years of work experience as a Principal Mechanical Engineer, Project Engineer, or a similar position in the Engineering department
  • Holding a valid engineering Degree
  • Complete knowledge of various engineering principles and techniques
  • Specific Proven experience in relevant mining industries
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Good leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to travel to different engineering sites
  • Ability to work in constringent conditions
