About the Role:
The key role of an Quality Engineer is to perform testing on the software project and accurately articulate issues, risks or possible improvements identified.
They should have good interpersonal skills as they must collaborate closely with all other team members and with business stakeholders. They work with software development team and attend design and development meetings to understand requirements and contribute to product value.
Testers in Agile projects need to break away from the principles and working methodologies of traditional software development. They do not only focus on product testing to find bugs, but also look for ways of improving defect
prevention, mitigating existing risks (issues, tech dept, testing dept) and acting as a quality advocate within their area of influence.
How you will make an impact:
- Understanding, implementing, and updating the testing approach;
- Measuring and reporting test KPIs across all applicable areas when needed;
- Creating, configuring, using, and managing test environments and test data. Act as owner of testing environments.
- Coaching other team members in relevant aspects of testing;
- Ensuring the appropriate testing tasks are scheduled during release and iteration planning;
- Actively collaborating with developers and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, especially in terms of testability, consistency, and completeness;
- Defining and implementing a complete testing process / procedures / ways of working (or improving an existing one)
- Maintaining the CI/CD pipeline and infrastructure and working with the team on improvements and validating changes.
- Providing support to 3’rd line team or directly to end-users if needed.
- Assisting in coaching junior testers or other colleges in general testing techniques or methods
- Contributing to initiatives outside of the scrum team Like defining performance benchmarks/skills and traits for testers in line with changes is schools of thought in the developing world of software development.
- Knowledge sharing initiatives, show & tell sessions or directly assisting colleagues in other teams if applicable.
- Working together with other testers/devs to tackle initiatives outside the scope of any 1 team, such as:
- Improving the onboarding process or tech interview
- General Project / Domain knowledge with testing specific documentation, mind-maps, charts, test, risks
- Training non-testers in basic testing
- Infrastructure or automation framework improvements
What we look for:
- We are looking for an Agile Tester that likes to constantly learn and is not afraid to explore tools, tech, approaches
- Coding skills are a must and can be in any programming language.
- outside of his/her comfort zone, to help others and who challenges any initiative (feature request, changes to
- process, strategy modification, group decision) that he/she thinks is detrimental to product quality or process efficiency.
- We expect you to own your testing process, your testing environment, provide support to 3’rd line team & endusers,
- look for proactive improvements, define them and implement them, learn coding (automation, if you don’t already know) or actively contribute to setup a cohere test automation process across the Phenom platform.
