Accountant (Retail & Payments)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with a strong background in retail accounting and payment processing. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing daily financial operations, ensuring accurate transaction recording, overseeing payment cycles, and supporting the finance team with reporting and reconciliation. Experience in retail environments and handling high-volume transactions is essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Retail Accounting

  • Handle day-to-day accounting activities related to retail operations.
  • Monitor and reconcile POS transactions, sales reports, discounts, returns, and cash collections.
  • Verify store-wise sales data and ensure accurate posting into the accounting system.
  • Coordinate with store teams to resolve discrepancies in sales or cash reports.

2. Payments & Reconciliation

  • Manage end-to-end payment processes including vendor payments, staff reimbursements, and petty cash.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile customer payments, online payment gateways, card transactions, and wallets.
  • Ensure timely processing of supplier invoices and maintain proper documentation.

3. Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare financial statements, monthly closing reports, and management summaries.
  • Support audit requirements by providing proper documentation and records.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and UAE VAT regulations.
  • Maintain accurate ledgers and support budgeting and forecasting processes.

4. Inventory & Cost Control

  • Work with the retail and warehouse teams to reconcile inventory movements.
  • Assist in stock counts, variance analysis, and cost evaluation.
  • Identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.

5. Coordination & Support

  • Liaise with banks, vendors, and internal departments for payment and accounting matters.
  • Support the finance manager in month-end and year-end closing.
  • Improve processes to enhance accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency in financial activities.


Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the retail industry.
  • Strong background in payment processing, reconciliations, and transaction management.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and VAT regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reporting).
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage high-volume transactions and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
