Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Senior Commissioning Manager - UZ Islands role for ADNOC offshore client to join us and make an impact within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based full time at Abu Dhabi office.
The Role:
The Senior Commissioning Manager (PMC) is responsible for leading, managing, and assuring all commissioning and start-up (CSU) activities for major offshore oil & gas, marine, or energy projects on behalf of the Project Management Consultant (PMC). The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant execution of pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and handover to operations, while coordinating closely with EPC contractors, operators, and multi-disciplinary teams. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and deep knowledge of offshore systems and regulatory requirements

Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management
- Lead and manage the offshore commissioning team, including discipline leads, vendor specialists, and EPC contractor personnel.
- Develop and execute overall commissioning strategies, execution plans, staffing plans, and methodologies.
- Ensure all commissioning activities align with PMC obligations, client expectations, project schedule, and HSE requirements.
Planning & Coordination
- Review and approve commissioning philosophies, procedures, ITPs, system completion plans, and turnover packages submitted by EPC contractors.
- Define system boundaries, completion sub-systems, and sequencing for pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up.
- Coordinate interface management between engineering, construction, operations, and HSE teams.
- Ensure all required materials, tools, test equipment, and vendor representatives are available onsite.
Execution & Technical Oversight
- Provide expert oversight of mechanical completion, FAT/SAT activities, loop checks, dynamic testing, and performance trials.
- Monitor readiness for offshore commissioning and ensure punch list management, permitting, and SIMOPS compliance.
- Ensure integrity and reliability of critical equipment and safety systems, including ESD, F&G, process, electrical, instrumentation, and rotating machinery.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and ensure timely technical resolution.
HSE & Quality Assurance
- Enforce strict adherence to offshore HSE regulations, PTW systems, and company safety protocols.
- Champion safety leadership during all commissioning operations, ensuring zero-incident performance.
- Verify compliance with international codes, standards, and client specifications.
Documentation & Handover
- Oversee the development and quality assurance of commissioning dossiers, test records, red-line drawings, and system completion documentation.
- Ensure all CSU documentation meets project turnover requirements for RFSU/RFO and final handover to operations.
- Lead the operational readiness and training programs for client operations teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Process, or related field).
- Minimum 20 years experience in commissioning and start-up of offshore oil & gas/energy facilities.
- Previous PMC experience on major offshore EPC/EPCI or brownfield/greenfield projects.
- Strong background in offshore platforms, FPSOs, subsea systems, utilities, and marine systems.
- Proven track record managing large multi-disciplinary commissioning teams.
- Thorough understanding of system completion tools (ICAPS/MCPlus/WinPCS/PCS) and international commissioning standards.
- Valid offshore certifications (BOSIET/FOET, Medical, HUET)

Expected:

- Minimum of 20 years’ experience mainly in the oil and gas industries
- At least 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar role in GCC countries
- Previous commissioning experience on major projects
- Previous experience in activities related to the Modularization of Process equipment
- Previous experience in activities in Gas Compressors (VFD) and Package Equipment
