About Role The General Counsel acts as a strategic execution partner to the CEO and leadership team, owning the full legal function at RemotePass.
This role ensures alignment between business priorities and legal strategy, while enabling the company to scale globally in a compliant, commercially sound, and risk-aware manner.
The General Counsel is responsible for all legal matters across the business, including commercial agreements, IP, product and technology, data protection, litigation, country expansion and set up, employment and labour, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
This role blends hands-on legal execution with strategic leadership and is ideal for a senior legal leader who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and enjoys building scalable legal foundations.
You will work closely with leaders across product, engineering, sales, operations, people, and finance, and serve as the primary point of contact for external counsel, regulators, and the board on legal matters.
Responsibilities: Own and define the legal strategy for RemotePass in line with business objectives and growth plans Act as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, executive team, and board Translate complex legal issues into practical, business-oriented guidance Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including MSAs, customer contracts, vendor agreements, partnership agreements, and NDAs Build and continuously improve contract templates, playbooks, and approval processes that support sales velocity while managing risk Partner closely with sales, partnerships, and procurement teams on deal structuring and negotiations Provide legal guidance on product development, launches, and roadmap decisions Own fintech, IP, and employment legal strategy across global geographies, including MENA Advise engineering and product teams on legal implications related to platform architecture, integrations, and automation Oversee legal compliance related to global employment, labor laws, worker classification, and EOR operations Advise on employment structures, terminations, and local labor risks across jurisdictions Partner with local counsel to stay ahead of regulatory changes impacting RemotePass and its customers Provide guidance on immigration, payroll, benefits, and taxation from a legal risk perspective Own data protection and privacy strategy across the company, including compliance with GDPR and other applicable international data protection regulations Identify, assess, and address legal, regulatory, and commercial risks across the business Support corporate governance, board processes, and investor requirements Manage disputes and regulatory inquiries, working with external counsel as needed A senior leadership role with direct impact on company strategy and growth Close partnership with the CEO and executive team Opportunity to build and scale the legal function from the ground up Exposure to complex global legal challenges in a fast-growing company GC or equivalent legal qualification with 10+ years of experience in senior legal roles Experience across commercial contracts, IP, product, corporate, and regulatory matters Background in fintech, SaaS, or high-growth technology companies strongly preferred Experience engaging with regulators or governmental bodies across regions Skills and Attributes Commercially minded with strong judgment and risk prioritisation skills Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication abilities Comfortable operating in ambiguity and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong cross-functional and cross-cultural communication skills Builder mindset with an entrepreneurial approach to legal problem solving
