JOB OVERVIEW


The Costuming Technician is responsible for the overall care and maintenance of all costume pieces that are utilized in the live entertainment program. This position works closely with the Seamstresses, Prosthetics, Hair and Makeup Artist, Costuming Attendants and other members of the Guest Experience- Entertainment department to ensure costumes are maintained at the highest possible quality level. 


The Costuming Technician is responsible for costume repairs and costume or prop fabrication as requested. This position works with the Farah Experiences team as an active participant in achieving artistic goals, ensuring consistent quality, sharing knowledge with the team, supporting production and execution of events and shows while maintaining a positive attitude in the workplace, guaranteeing high standards in the delivery of all offerings and preserving production and execution values across the properties.


JOB SCOPE


· Fabricates and repairs costumes, character/mascot and craft pieces
· Alters existing costumes with high attention to detail and skilled craftsmanship to ensure show/costume quality
· Works with costuming team on costuming daily operations of the, including, but not limited to checking in staff, handing out daily assignments, answering radio calls from green rooms and other duties as assigned by management
· Participates in off-site or on-site public relations events involving costumes and performers
· Helps crew with daily laundry, including washing, hanging, ironing and steaming costume pieces as needed
· Organizes weekly dry cleaning pick up and drop off and records items that have been taken and returned by the dry cleaner
· Helps Head of Creative Costuming in maintaining accurate and up to date costume inventory
· Keeps track of supplies and places orders for replacement in a timely manner
· Assists in a team leader capacity with other functions within entertainment when required
· Attends department meetings as requested
· Interfaces with all colleagues and outside vendors in a professional and courteous manner
· Assists with administrative tasks when needed
· Has the ability to carry and move relatively heavy items 
· Shares information and best practices with other colleagues 
· Develops and helps maintain up to date documentation 
· Maintains communication throughout the Costuming Department 
· Performs other duties as requested by senior management


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS 


Qualifications


Essential: · Higher secondary or equivalent education 


Desirable: · Associate degree or higher in theatre or fine arts


Years of Experience Essential: 


· Minimum of 2 years of artistic craft experience Desirable: 
· 5 years sewing and/or fine arts background 
· 3 years of experience within theme park, theatrical productions or cruise ships


Skills Essential: 
· Painting, drawing, sculpting, airbrushing 
· Working with sewing machine and hand sewing 
· Experience working with glues and solvents 
· Proficiency in English · Past experience working with performers 
· Computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint 
· Attention to detail and highly organized Desirable: 
· Costume repair and manufacturing background 
· Advanced level computer proficiency 
· Specialization in costume technology 
· Industrial and domestic sewing machines proficiency 
· Experienced working with character/mascot costume pieces 
· Theme Park experience 
· People management skills
