Roles & Responsibilities
As the medical authority for the country (as LOC Chief Medical Officer), maximize Amgen s value proposition of in-line and pipeline products through leadership and delivery of all medical and scientific activities across TA s:
Responsibilities
- Provide medical and scientific leadership to regional and country leadership team in order to shape and execute strategy
- Lead affiliate as a member of the Affiliate Management Team
- Provide scientific/medical input into cross functional strategy, within the country Management Team.
- Develop and lead execution of medical strategy.
- Manage and allocate Medical budget and resources.
- In partnership with Country General Manager, ensure informed budget trade-offs.
- Recruit, manage, develop, and retain industry-best Medical and Scientific talent within the country.
- Provide scientific/medical input into local regulatory/reimbursement/policy related documents and interactions.
- Support the Global and Regional commercialization process, in partnership with Regional Medical Leads, to ensure an active flow of local medical insights and needs to the Regional and Global level.
- Lead evidence generation
- Lead the local evidence generation strategy and execution, including RWE, Investigator Sponsored Studies and expanded access.
- Develop and execute local scientific communication and engagement strategy
- Facilitate the build-up of Amgen s reputation as a science-based and patient-focused reliable partner.
- Lead interactions with key external stakeholders as a senior medical representative of Amgen.
- Lead medical advocacy.
- Understand the expectations of key external stakeholders to support appropriate access to Amgen therapies.
- Leverage local medical insights to best inform cross functional strategy.

- Departmental resource allocation/talent management decisions
- Scientific/medical approval of materials used internally/externally
- Medical governance (e.g. Signs off on promotional material)

Qualifications
- Medical education (Medical Doctor)
Experience (minimum for all Affiliate MD s)
- > 8 years of medical affairs experience
- Broad and formal leadership experience
Knowledge
- Pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle and commercialization process knowledge with advanced understanding of other functions; including, but not limited to, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs
- Therapeutic areas knowledge
- Network of customer contacts in therapeutic areas
- Knowledge of local pharmaceutical industry and legal/health system environment
- Finance/budgeting and resource management experience
- Track record of leadership
