Legal Consultant
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE
Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Consultant to provide expert employment law advice and support across a broad range of HR and legal matters. This role will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure compliance with UAE employment legislation, mitigate legal risk, and support business operations through practical, commercially focused legal guidance.
Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day legal advice on UAE employment law and employee relations matters. Draft, review and negotiate employment contracts, policies, disciplinary documentation and settlement agreements. Advise on employee lifecycle matters including recruitment, probation, performance management, disciplinary actions, grievances and terminations. Ensure compliance with UAE Labour Law, MOHRE regulations and associated employment legislation. Support investigations into employee relations issues and provide legally sound recommendations. Manage employment disputes, labour complaints and external legal correspondence where required. Work closely with HR and leadership teams on organisational change, restructures and workforce planning initiatives. Monitor legislative developments and advise the business on regulatory changes and compliance requirements. Develop and deliver employment law training and guidance to managers and HR teams. Liaise with external legal counsel and government authorities where necessary.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB or equivalent); postgraduate legal qualification preferred.5+ years' experience advising on UAE employment law within private practice or an in-house legal function. Strong working knowledge of UAE Labour Law and MOHRE procedures. Experience handling complex employee relations matters and employment disputes. Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills. Commercially minded with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives. Strong stakeholder management skills with experience partnering with HR and senior leadership. Fluency in English is essential; Arabic would be advantageous.
