Lead civil and structural design activities for power projects, substations, utility buildings, and associated infrastructure.
Develop, review, and approve civil and structural engineering designs, drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
Prepare and review designs for equipment foundations, transformer foundations, switchgear foundations, control buildings, cable trenches, roads, drainage systems, retaining structures, fencing, and other associated civil works.
Review project requirements, tender documents, specifications, BOQs, site conditions, and client standards to establish design requirements.
Perform and review structural analysis and design calculations for reinforced concrete and structural steel elements.
Develop design concepts, detailed engineering drawings, layouts, sections, details, and construction documentation.
Ensure civil and structural designs are coordinated with electrical, mechanical, MEP, architectural, and other engineering disciplines.
Coordinate with electrical engineers to ensure proper integration of equipment foundations, cable trenches, access requirements, earthing interfaces, equipment layouts, and operational clearances.
Review geotechnical and topographical information and incorporate site conditions into civil and structural designs.
Evaluate soil conditions, foundation requirements, settlement considerations, groundwater conditions, and other geotechnical parameters.
Design and review foundations for transformers, GIS/AIS equipment, gantries, structures, poles, tanks, and other power-project equipment.
Review structural requirements for control rooms, substations, warehouses, workshops, administration buildings, and utility structures.
Prepare and review drainage, stormwater, roads, pavements, grading, earthworks, and site development designs.
Prepare and review technical specifications, design calculations, BOQs, material specifications, and design reports.
Ensure designs comply with applicable international standards, UAE regulations, authority requirements, and client specifications.
Coordinate with consultants, clients, contractors, suppliers, and authorities to resolve design-related issues and obtain necessary approvals.
Review shop drawings, fabrication drawings, material submittals, and technical submissions from contractors and suppliers.
Review RFIs, technical queries, design changes, and site modifications and provide timely engineering solutions.
Conduct design reviews, constructability assessments, value engineering studies, and technical evaluations to optimize project solutions.
Ensure designs are practical, economical, safe, and suitable for site execution.
Support project teams during construction by resolving technical issues, clarifying design requirements, and reviewing proposed site changes.
Conduct site visits and inspections to verify existing conditions and ensure construction conforms to approved designs.
Review and approve as-built drawings and final engineering documentation.
Maintain design records, calculations, drawing registers, technical submissions, and revision controls.
Coordinate with planning and project controls teams to ensure engineering deliverables are aligned with project schedules.
Monitor engineering deliverables and ensure timely completion of drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical submissions.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior civil and structural engineers and designers.
Participate in design coordination meetings, technical workshops, client presentations, and project review meetings.
Identify design risks and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
Support project management and commercial teams with technical inputs for variations, claims, tenders, and change orders.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Typically 7–10 years of relevant civil/structural design experience, preferably in power, substations, infrastructure, or EPC projects.
Strong experience in detailed civil and structural design for substations and power infrastructure.
Proven experience designing equipment foundations, transformer foundations, control buildings, cable trenches, roads, drainage, retaining structures, and associated civil works.
Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
Good understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and foundation design.
Experience with relevant international design codes and standards such as Eurocodes, British Standards, ACI, ASCE, or equivalent.
Knowledge of UAE building regulations, authority requirements, and utility standards is preferred.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and structural/civil design software such as STAAD . Pro, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, or equivalent.
Ability to prepare and independently review engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering designs and resolving design interfaces.
Strong knowledge of design review, constructability, value engineering, and technical compliance.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, coordination, and technical leadership skills.
Ability to manage multiple design deliverables and meet project deadlines.
