Technical drawing creation, mould design & NPD
Creates technical drawing and specifications for NPD projects
Maintains and updates technical drawings throughout the development lifecycle.
Supports Innovation & Design and Manufacturing teams with drawing revisions and specification changes.
Ensures drawing standards and revision control requirements are maintained.
Create 3D models, technical drawings and associated computer generated images/renders to communicate intent.
Generate geometry, files and technical information needed for analysis/validation and downstream manufacture.
Ensure designs meet budget, production methods, client specifications, tolerance stacks and Orora Glass & Saverglass capabilities.
Conduct studies and develop designs for items and tools using CAD/CAM software.
Take charge of the design and production of complex product and tooling plans; modify tooling plans as required.
Improves mould design in response to quality feedback from production trials and manufacturing performance
Liaises with French mould design and development office, design teams and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent process and best mould design practises are being used
Provide design engineering support throughout the mould manufacturing process to external partners.
Create, source and coordinate prototypes/mock ups for tenders and customer presentations.
Stakeholder Collaboration, Tendering & Quality Assurance
Key member of the Glass NPD team and sales focused NPD group.
Manage internal and external customer requests
Manage project requests from Glass technical teams
Be a source of proposals/solutions in exchanges with Sales, Production and customers.
Complete calls for tenders and, where required, recommend/approve the choice of mould maker.
Prepare mock up tenders and select subcontractors as appropriate.
Check and peer review colleagues’ plans/drawings; uphold drawing standards and version control.
Participate in the training and mentoring of colleagues on CAD/CAM, drawing and prototyping practices.
Engage regularly with Glass NPD and technical stakeholders to prioritise and complete requests.
Provide guidance and support to other Industrial Design team members to deliver on NPD requests.
Desired Candidate Profile
Any Relevant degree
Demonstrated experience in mould design and CAD/CAM for manufacture (e.g., Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD).
Proficiency in creating detailed technical drawings, 3D models and production specifications.
Experience collaborating with mould makers and managing tender/quote processes for tooling.
Experience with rendering/ visualisation tools (e.g., KeyShot) and Adobe Creative Suite is advantageous.
Relevant qualifications in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design or Toolmaking (or equivalent experience) preferred, not essential.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours
Strong knowledge of mould manufacturing processes, tolerances and materials for glass packaging.
Ability to adjust design solutions to suit end consumer and customer requirements.
Mastery of prototyping equipment and processes relevant to Orora’s Industrial Design requirements.
Highly collaborative, solution‑oriented, with excellent communication and attention to detail.
Ability to absorb feedback and iterate designs; clear and user‑friendly communication of technical ideas.
Strong organisational skills; ability to manage multiple assignments with follow‑through.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity in requirements and creative direction.
Experience working with FMCG, wine or premium spirits brands preferred.
