Job Details

Emarat Aloula Contracting is seeking an experienced MEP / Mechanical Engineer to lead and coordinate the complete delivery of mechanical and MEP systems for 132kV substation projects. The role will be responsible for the design coordination, authority approvals, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and final handover of HVAC, firefighting, fire alarm, plumbing, and drainage systems.


The successful candidate must have proven UAE experience in substation projects, preferably with a Main Contractor or EPC Contractor, and be capable of managing specialist MEP subcontractors and coordinating effectively with clients, consultants, authorities, and other project disciplines.

Key Responsibilities


  • Lead and coordinate the complete MEP/Mechanical works for 132kV substation projects from design through final handover.

  • Manage HVAC, firefighting, fire alarm, plumbing, drainage, and associated mechanical systems.

  • Review and coordinate shop drawings, technical submittals, material submissions, calculations, method statements, and inspection requirements.

  • Coordinate and obtain necessary authority approvals in accordance with project requirements.

  • Manage and monitor specialist MEP subcontractors, suppliers, and site installation teams.

  • Ensure all MEP installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, ITPs, method statements, applicable codes, and client requirements.

  • Coordinate MEP works with Civil, Electrical, Structural, Architectural, and other project disciplines to ensure proper integration and avoid site conflicts.

  • Coordinate and monitor FAT, SAT, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and final handover activities.

  • Liaise with the Client, Consultant, TAQA/DEWA, Civil Defence, and other relevant authorities throughout the project.

  • Monitor project progress, quality, safety, materials, manpower, and subcontractor performance.

  • Attend inspections, resolve technical issues, and ensure timely closure of snags, punch lists, and outstanding works.

  • Review and verify testing and commissioning reports, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and final handover documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable TAQA/DEWA standards, Civil Defence requirements, NFPA, ASHRAE, project specifications, and approved design documents.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant MEP/Mechanical Engineering experience.

  • Proven UAE experience in 132kV substation projects is mandatory.

  • Experience with a Main Contractor or EPC Contractor is highly preferred.

  • Strong hands-on experience in HVAC, firefighting, fire alarm, plumbing, and drainage systems.

  • Proven experience in MEP design coordination, technical submissions, authority approvals, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover.

  • Experience managing specialist MEP subcontractors and suppliers.

  • Good knowledge of TAQA/DEWA requirements, UAE Civil Defence, NFPA, ASHRAE, and relevant project specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of project documentation, inspections, testing and commissioning procedures.

  • Excellent coordination, communication, problem-solving, and site management skills.
