The Industry 4.0 District is a major initiative by UAE University, aligning with its goal to become the “University of the Future”. This District Hub is an advanced industrial innovation and prototyping centre, designed to bridge the gap between research, education, and industry. Equipped with state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, including CNC machining, additive manufacturing, automation systems, robotics and drones. The hub serves as a collaborative space for engineers, students, and industry professionals. Our mission is to drive cutting-edge research, product development, and technical training to empower the next generation of innovators and enhance industrial capabilities. The successful candidate for the Senior Technician position will collaborate closely with the District’s management and coordinators. We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Senior Technician to play a vital role in the daily operations of the District Hub. The technician will be responsible for organizing tools and materials, maintaining machines and equipment, and ensuring a smooth workflow across multiple sections. This hands-on role supports engineers, students, and technical teams in various industrial and R&D projects. The ideal candidate must have strong technical expertise, troubleshooting skills, and a structured approach to workspace management. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Technical Support & Operations Assistance * Assist in daily workshop operations, ensuring smooth workflow across various sections. * Provide hands-on technical support for machining, electronics, additive manufacturing, and assembly. * Support engineers in fabrication, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment. * Prepare machines, tools, and consumables for projects and training sessions. * Monitor and enforce safety standards and best practices in all workspaces. 2. Machine & Equipment Maintenance * Perform routine inspections, servicing, and preventive maintenance on CNC machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, and other fabrication tools. * Identify and report machine faults, malfunctions, and necessary repairs. * Ensure proper calibration and alignment of machines for optimal performance. * Maintain an organized log of maintenance schedules, spare parts inventory, and equipment servicing. 3. Tool & Material Management * Organize and maintain tools, raw materials, spare parts, and consumables for various sections. * Ensure efficient inventory control, restocking items when necessary to avoid project delays. * Label and categorize workshop tools, storage areas, and materials for easy access. 4. Workspace & Lab Preparation * Set up and prepare workbenches, machines, and tools for student training, workshops, and industrial projects. * Ensure clean, safe, and efficient working environments for different teams. * Support in rearranging workspace layouts for new projects and equipment installations. * Assist in workshop setup for educational training and prototype development sessions. 5. Project & Training Support * Assist students, trainees, and engineers with technical guidance in fabrication and assembly. * Provide basic training on tool usage, machine operation, and safety procedures. * Support educational workshops and hands-on training sessions by preparing necessary materials and tools. * Collaborate with engineers to test prototypes and optimize production workflows.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Diploma or Technical Certification in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Technology. • 7+ years of hands-on experience in machine operation, maintenance, and workshop management. • Strong knowledge in one of the following: CNC machining, welding, metal forming, electronics, or industrial automation. • Experience in handling Lab machines and power tools. • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults in machines. • Ability to read and understand technical documents and datasheets • Familiarity with industrial safety regulations and quality standards. • Very good knowledge with using computer and MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in the industrial field. • Technical Proficiency – Strong skills in machine maintenance, fabrication, and tool management. • Problem-Solving Ability – Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues quickly and efficiently. • Attention to Detail – Ensuring precise machine calibration, inventory tracking, and material handling. • Safety & Compliance Knowledge – Familiarity with workplace safety, hazardous materials, and emergency procedures.
