Core Responsibilities

  • Sales & Target Achievement: Drive sales of food products (e.g., confectionery, grains, poultry) to meet or exceed set targets.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with supermarkets, grocery stores (bakalas), hotels, restaurants (HORECA).
  • Product Promotion: Inform clients about new products, features, and promotions.
  • Transaction Management: Process orders, generate sales receipts, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay updated on food industry trends, competitors, and market conditions.
  • Reporting: Prepare daily/weekly sales reports and share insights. 


Common Types & Settings

  • Van Salesman: Sells directly from a van, often to smaller stores (B2B), carrying FMCG goods.
  • Outdoor Sales Rep: Travels to meet clients, common in trading companies.
  • Modern Trade/Retail: Focuses on larger supermarkets and retail chains (e.g., Arla Foods roles).
  • Food Service: Targets hotels, restaurants, and catering (HORECA). 



Skills

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Experience: 1-5+ years in food/FMCG sales preferred.
  • Driving: Valid UAE driving license often mandatory.
  • Language: English essential; Arabic, Hindi, or Urdu can be advantageous.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Tools: Proficiency in MS Office and sales software.
