The role


This is an exciting opportunity for a Technical Material Coordinator – E&I to join our UAE Business Unit.

Wood has been awarded an Onshore Project to support an International Client operation by providing Brownfield Engineering & Design Services. The Vision of this Contract is to enhance the production & assets integrity across various locations. Team of Engineers and Designers based in Basra and Dubai supports execution of these projects. Projects under this contract focuses on Flare system revamps/re-ignition, Rehab of aging assets, BTEX emission control, Flare Gas Recovery & Replacement/upgrade of obsolete equipment, piping & systems.

Key Objectives:
 


Role Purpose


The Technical Materials Coordinator serves as the critical link between the Engineering Design team and the Supply Chain. The primary objective is to ensure that all Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and Material Requisitions (MRs) are processed accurately and swiftly to support the execution of brownfield modifications without schedule slippage.


Primary Responsibilities


  • MTO/MR Actioning: Efficiently translate issued Documents and Drawings into material requirements.
  • Inventory Interrogation: Conduct thorough searches within the ERP system (SAP) to identify available stock and execute reservations.
  • Procurement Initiation: Raise precise Purchase Requisitions (PRs) for non-stock items, ensuring all technical attachments and Required On Site dates are aligned with project milestones.
  • Workflow Management: Direct the flow of materials from Requisition to Procurement via provision of tracking information.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively between each material stage (PR – PO, Post PO etc).

Multi-Discipline Technical Interrogation


  • Collaborate with Technical Authorities (TAs) to ensure material integrity across core areas:
  • Electrical: Verify hazardous area compliance for glands, cables, and junction boxes.
  • Instrumentation: Confirm specifications for transmitters, control valves, and tubing, ensuring compatibility with existing plant protocols.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)


  • To meet business expectations, the coordinator will be measured against the following:
  • Technical Accuracy > 98% "Right First Time" PR rate > Reduces costly Technical Queries (TQs) and incorrect deliveries.
  • Tracking Compliance > Weekly status updates for all bulk/complex items > Provides stakeholders with procurement visibility and risk mitigation.

Expected:


  • Preferably a diploma or degree in supply chain, logistics, data analysis, etc.
  • Possess a minimum of 6 years' experience in material coordination.
  • Previous experience working within Oil & Gas desirable
  • Documentation: Proficiency in reading P&IDs, Isometrics, and Single Line Diagrams.
  • ERP Expertise: Hands-on experience with SAP, Assai, Webtop, MS Office / Excel
  • Brownfield Experience: Understanding the challenges in aging gas assets.
  • Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between field construction teams and office-based procurement.
