Roles & Responsibilities

• 1. Virtualization Administration & Operations

  • Manage and support VMware environments, including:

  • vSphere (ESXi, vCenter Server)

  • vSAN and NSX

  • Ensure high availability and reliability using:

  • vSphere HA

  • DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler)

  • vMotion and Storage vMotion

  • Perform:

  • Performance monitoring and optimization

  • Resource allocation and capacity planning

  • Deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines and templates

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues related to compute, storage, and networking

  • Manage and monitor datastore usage and performance

  
  

  2. Security, Compliance & Hardening

  • Implement VMware security best practices:

  • Secure ESXi hosts and vCenter configuration

  • Role-based access control (RBAC)

  • Perform infrastructure hardening based on:

  • VMware security guidelines

  • Organizational security policies

  • Ensure compliance with:

  • Internal governance standards

  • Regulatory frameworks

  • Work with compliance teams to establish and implement baseline security configurations

  
  

  3. Patch & Vulnerability Management

  • Plan and execute patching for:

  • ESXi hosts

  • vCenter Server

  • Use enterprise patching tools such as:

  • VMware Lifecycle Manager (vLCM)

  • Maintain patch tracking reports and documentation

  • Collaborate with Vulnerability Management teams to:

  • Analyze Qualys or similar reports

  • Identify risks and remediate vulnerabilities

  • Ensure timely closure of vulnerabilities as per defined SLAs

  
  

  4. Collaboration & Change Management

  • Work closely with:

  • Server/Infrastructure teams

  • Database and application teams

  • Information Security teams

  • Support:

  • Change management and release processes

  • Infrastructure upgrades and migrations

  • Maintain:

  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Documentation and audit-ready records

  
  

  5. Backup, DR & Business Continuity

  • Configure and manage backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Commvault)

  • Ensure disaster recovery readiness using:

  • Site Recovery Manager (SRM), Storage Array based replication, VSphere replication

  • Perform regular DR drills and validation exercises

  
  

  6. On-Call Support

  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation

  • Respond to critical infrastructure incidents and escalations

  • Ensure timely resolution and service restoration

Desired Candidate Profile

• 4–7 years of experience in VMware administration

• Strong expertise in:

• VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter)

• Virtual infrastructure design and troubleshooting

• Hands-on experience with:

• HA, DRS, vMotion

• Storage and networking concepts in virtual environments

• Good knowledge of:

• Virtualization security and hardening practices

• Compliance standards

• Experience with patching tools (vLCM.)

• Familiarity with vulnerability tools (Qualys or equivalent)

• Scripting skills:

• PowerCLI / PowerShell preferred

• Strong communication and coordination skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in enterprise or banking environments

• Exposure to:

• VMware NSX and vSAN

• Cloud platforms (Azure/AWS integration)

• Experience with monitoring and automation tools

• Knowledge of DR orchestration tools such as SRM
