Job Summary

With offices in Bermuda, Singapore & Hong Kong, Transamerica Life Bermuda is a global multi-hub life insurer specializing in providing bespoke life insurance services to HNW customers.


We are embarking on an exciting growth and expansion plan which includes increasing our Middle East presence trough the establishment of an office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and we are seeking a dynamic individual to lead the local development as the Head of DIFC.


Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Head of DIFC will be a key member of the Transamerica Life Bermuda (TLB) Commercial team.


This role exists to lead the growth and development of business via the DIFC, and the successful individual will also serve as the Principal Representative of TLB’s DIFC Office.


Key Responsibilities include deepening and expanding existing partnerships, establishing and developing new partnerships, as well as managing the Company’s overall regular engagement with business partners (brokers, bankers, and others) in the region to achieve the business objectives.


The individual should have the ability to partner and work closely with internal support teams within TLB the operate across various locations to make the desired impact.

Additionally, the individual will also play a key role as the Principal Representative ensuring regulatory adherence.


Responsibilities

Leadership and people

  • Take a leadership role in the DIFC office as the Principal Representative, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the achievement the Sales Target of the DIFC Representative Office by creating robust and sustainable growth through acquisition of new business partners and driving increased penetration with existing business partners.
  • Lead, manage and coach the local team in DIFC to enhance the team capabilities and achieve the desired goals.
  • Represent the DIFC business as a key member of the Commercial Leadership team by contributing to and developing the commercial programs to achieve desired business results.


Business Development and Sales Management

  • Build, manage, and maintain relationships with key distributors and partners at all levels, while also seeking out new partnerships for the future growth.
  • Deliver the highest quality and relevant product and sales training to distribution partners.
  • Ensure accurate and timely delivery of communication messages to business partners at appropriate levels.
  • Support the branch on day-to-day enquiries on commercial related aspects such as products, illustrations and sales techniques.
  • Champion the DIFC office developments and overall proposition development to achieve our ‘Globally Aligned, Locally Relevant’ approach to business growth.


General

  • Ensure timely reporting on achievements and activity.
  • Collaborate with departments across the organisation and the various different offices for a seamless and cohesive delivery.
  • Keep up to date with major developments related to competitor actions such as products offered and changes in the insurance market to capture opportunities.
  • Present and be a champion for TLB in the region and across the globe.
  • Handle special projects and other assignments as delegated.


Requirements

  • Full time residency in the UAE,
  • Experience as a Controller, Director, or Partner in the past 10 years
  • Proactive, result oriented, with can-do attitude and capacity to think out of the box.
  • Possess a degree qualification and having insurance related professional qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of sales and staff management experience within the life insurance sector displaying a high degree of leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Have superior market insight, product knowledge and know-how of the high net worth insurance products (Universal Life, VUL, IUL, WOL, Retirement, Pension etc.) with demonstrated experience in training and coaching and have an excellent understanding of products with sound sales techniques.
  • Able to communicate well with both internal and external (intermediary) clients with fluency in English. Proficiency in local languages would be an advantage.
  • Have good organization skill and be meticulous paying attention to details, and able to perform under pressure.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Words, PowerPoint
