Senior Accountant

AW Connect - UAE - Dubai

We are seeking a Senior Accountant with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the UAE, specializing in the contracting/construction industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and providing accurate financial reports. This role requires a deep understanding of construction accounting, cost control, and project-based financial management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivables, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
  • Manage project cost accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of expenses and proper allocation to projects.
  • Perform regular budget vs actual analysis and variance reporting for ongoing construction projects.
  • Handle financial forecasting, cash flow management, and resource allocation to meet project financial requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and filing of returns in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring accurate documentation and financial transparency.
  • Reconcile bank statements, project accounts, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and improve accounting processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support for project planning and execution.
  • Oversee payroll processing for employees in compliance with UAE labor laws.
  • Assist with financial planning, tax planning, and risk management strategies.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA/CA certification is a plus).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting within the contracting/construction industry in the UAE.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction accounting principles, project cost control, and financial management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Tally, or other ERP systems.
  • Excellent understanding of UAE VAT laws and other relevant financial regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing financial tasks.
  • Previous experience with managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with UAE labor laws and payroll regulations.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modeling.


Salary: AED 10,000 - 15,000
