We are seeking a reliable and proactive Steward to join our operations team. The role is suited to individuals who take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation, enjoy working as part of a team and have a practical approach to facilities and equipment care. This position is open to applicants from all backgrounds and is gender neutral.
Key responsibilities for Steward
Operate dishwashing equipment and hand-wash items as required, ensuring thorough cleaning and sanitisation of plates, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, and service ware.
Sort, scrape, soak and pre-rinse items before loading into dishwashers and ensure correct detergents and chemicals are used according to instructions.
Dry, polish, and store clean items in designated locations, maintaining careful handling of delicate items such as stemware, silver.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the dishwashing station, kitchen back-of-house areas, and waste disposal points, including regular emptying of bins and recycling as per site procedures.
Assist with basic food preparation and plating support when required, following food safety and hygiene standards.
Report any equipment faults, breakages, or health and safety concerns promptly to management.
Desired Candidate Profile
Previous experience in a Stewarding role preferred, ideally within hospitality, or catering environments.
Basic understanding of food hygiene standards and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and to follow instructions precisely.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends to support events.
