Key Responsibilities
- Culinary Leadership:
- Lead and supervise the culinary team in a specific section of the kitchen.
- Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the assigned section.
- Recipe Development:
- Contribute to the development and refinement of recipes, taking into consideration taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
- Collaborate with the head chef on menu planning and innovation.
- Quality Control:
- Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes, maintaining high standards of taste and presentation.
- Conduct regular taste tests and make adjustments as needed.
- Station Management:
- Manage and organize the kitchen station, ensuring a smooth workflow and timely production.
- Oversee the work of Demi Chefs and Commis assigned to the section.
- Training and Mentoring:
- Train, mentor, and develop junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on culinary techniques and station responsibilities.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other chefs, cooks, and support staff to coordinate overall kitchen operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Culinary Creativity:
- Contribute creative ideas for specials, promotions, and menu enhancements.
- Stay informed about culinary trends and incorporate innovative techniques into the menu.
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen, including the assigned station.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and hygiene standards.
- Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory for the assigned section, including ordering and stock rotation.
- Notify the head chef of any inventory shortages or quality issues.
- Efficiency:
- Work efficiently to meet service deadlines and maintain a smooth flow of food production.
- Coordinate with other sections to ensure timely delivery of complete dishes.
- Adaptability:
- Adapt to changing menu requirements and culinary techniques.
- Assist in various kitchen tasks as needed and directed by senior chefs.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education:
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in hospitality or a related field is a plus.
Training/Experience:
· Proven experience in a senior culinary role, preferably as a Chef de Partie or similar.
· Strong leadership and team management skills.
· Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices.
· Creative thinking and a passion for culinary innovation.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
· Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
