Role Description The Scrum Master / Release Manager is a part-time, remote role responsible for facilitating agile processes and ensuring smooth, predictable releases for the lab’s software and research-related tools. Day-to-day tasks include organizing and leading sprint planning sessions, daily standups, and retrospectives, while helping the team refine and prioritize user stories. The role involves coordinating release schedules, tracking dependencies, and communicating timelines and risks to stakeholders. The individual will remove impediments, support continuous improvement in workflows, and promote effective communication across technical and non-technical team members. This position requires close collaboration with developers, researchers, and project leads to align deliverables with project goals. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Sprint Planning and User Stories skills for managing agile workflows and backlog refinement. Candidates should possess solid Analytical Skills for assessing team performance, identifying process improvements, and supporting data-informed decisions. Candidates should possess clear and effective Communication skills for facilitating meetings, documenting processes, and aligning stakeholders. Candidates should possess familiarity with Software Development practices to coordinate releases, understand technical constraints, and support the delivery lifecycle. Experience in agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and prior work as a Scrum Master or Release Manager is beneficial. Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Master or similar) is advantageous. Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage part-time hours effectively, and collaborate across time zones. Bachelor’s degree in a technical, scientific, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
