Role Purpose
The Phlebotomist (Home Collections) delivers safe, respectful and timely specimen collection in patients’ homes and approved locations. The role protects patient identity, specimen integrity, confidentiality and reliable handover to laboratory transport and receiving teams.

Key Accountabilities
1. Patient Identification & Collection
· Verify patient identity, test request and collection requirements before every procedure.
· Perform authorized specimen collection using approved techniques and infection-prevention controls.
· Label specimens at the point of collection and confirm completeness before leaving the location.

Safe, correctly identified specimens and a professional patient experience.
2. Specimen Handling & Transport
· Prepare, package and hand over specimens in line with stability, temperature and transport requirements.
· Maintain chain of custody and accurate collection records in approved systems.
· Escalate delays, rejected samples, unsuccessful collections and patient incidents promptly.
OUTCOME
Protected specimen integrity and traceable handover to the laboratory.
3. Field Service Delivery
· Follow assigned schedules, communicate professionally and protect patient privacy in home settings.
· Maintain collection equipment, supplies, PPE and transport readiness.
· Coordinate with dispatch, customer service and laboratory teams to resolve visit issues.

Reliable field service with timely communication and issue resolution.
4. Quality, Safety & Improvement
· Follow SOPs, sharps safety, waste-disposal and incident-reporting requirements.
· Complete competency assessments, mandatory training and quality checks.
· Contribute to improvements in patient experience and pre-analytical quality.

Safe, compliant and continuously improving home collection practice.

Requirements

Essential
· Recognized phlebotomy or healthcare qualification.
· Professional licence (DHA) or registration as required by the relevant local authority.
· Demonstrated competency in venepuncture, patient identification and specimen handling.
· Working knowledge of infection prevention, sharps safety and specimen transport.
Preferred
· Experience in home healthcare or mobile collection services.
· Valid UAE driving licence where required for the assigned operating model.
· Experience using digital scheduling or collection systems.
