Working within the Facilities/Admin/H &S department, the incumbent will be responsible for conducting laboratory inspections to verify laboratory compliance with relevant guidelines established by government regulatory agencies, university guidelines, and general laboratory standards and to promote a safe and healthy environment for all users. Please note the role is earmarked for an Emirati candidate.
Some of the key responsibilities will include:
Assist team members to ensure all users are in compliance with policies and programs for chemical, biological, physical, radiation, laser fire, life, and/or environmental protection safety
Provide comprehensive support to the research community, including support of radiation safety, bio-safety and Chemical Safety
Carry out inspections, assess the hazards associated with the use of biological and chemical agents, conduct evaluations of potentially hazardous areas and conditions
Support all users on safe practices for potential hazards and provide support to the bio-safety program and chemical hygiene program
Assist with investigations related to fire, health and safety accidents and/or incidents
Perform chemical spill cleanups and assist with waste chemical pickups and assist with the Chemical Inventory Program as needed
Ensure compliance with Health Authority legislation, standards, codes of practices policy and health, safety and environmental standards, codes regulations and best practices.
Adhere to the University's information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager
A Bachelor Degree in Health & Safety or related areas, related certification desirable.
OSHA experience is a plus
