Class Teacher - Primary

International Community Schools Abu Dhabi is searching for a passionate, dedicated, and dynamic Class Teacher - Primary (Grade 5) to lead our students through a pivotal stage in their educational journey. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning. This role requires a deep understanding of child development, curriculum design, and effective classroom management techniques to ensure that each student is supported in achieving their highest potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and cohesive curriculum aligned with the school’s educational standards and the needs of Grade 5 students.
  • Design lesson plans that incorporate a variety of teaching methods, including direct instruction, inquiry-based learning, collaborative group work, and hands-on activities.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles, abilities, and interests, ensuring that all students are challenged and engaged.
  • Integrate technology effectively into lessons to enhance learning and prepare students for the digital world.
  • Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom culture that fosters mutual respect, collaboration, and a strong sense of community.
  • Establish clear expectations for behavior and consistently enforce classroom rules and procedures.
  • Use proactive strategies to manage student behavior, promoting self-regulation and positive interactions among students.
  • Organize the physical classroom space to support diverse learning activities and maximize student engagement.
  • Implement a variety of formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning and growth.
  • Analyze assessment data to identify trends, address learning gaps, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, achievements, and areas needing improvement.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students on their work, helping them to set and achieve personal learning goals.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share students’ progress, address concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support learning at home.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school meetings, and community events to build strong partnerships with families and the wider school community.
  • Act as an advocate for students, fostering strong connections between home and school.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices, curriculum changes, and new technologies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share resources, ideas, and strategies for improving teaching and learning across the school.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning communities, and other collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing school-wide educational outcomes.
  • Participate actively in the life of the school, contributing to the development of school policies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Lead or assist in extracurricular activities, clubs, or events that enhance the student experience and promote holistic development.
  • Serve as a role model for students, demonstrating the school’s values of respect, responsibility, and integrity in all interactions.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Primary Education, or a related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), teaching license, or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching at the primary level, with specific experience in Grade 5 preferred.
  • A strong understanding of curriculum development, lesson planning, and instructional strategies appropriate for upper primary students.
  • Proficiency in integrating educational technology into the classroom to enhance learning.
