The Load Dispatch Center Specialist will play a crucial role in the monitoring and control of the electrical grid, ensuring the stability and efficiency of power distribution. This position requires a strong understanding of energy management systems and the ability to analyze real-time data to support decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
- Carryout preventive and corrective maintenance activities on all LDC system applications software, operating systems and hardware.
- Carryout system administration activities on all LDC systems
- Use of real-time data monitoring techniques, data historian management, and data visualization tools to effectively extract, analyze, and present critical system information
- Monitoring and attending all system alarms and events generated from Spectrum Power TG EMS and HIS systems based on their priorities and in coordination with LDC power operations
- Providing technical assistance to LDC power operation on failures by troubleshooting, generating reports and resolving failures that occur in the EMS/HIS systems and their subsystems
- Performing Oracle database administration, analysis and performance optimization utilizing indexes and dynamic tables
- Developing Oracle forms and reports and extracting the required data for operation and development as business need
- Performing PL/SQL scripting, monitor database conditions, proactively rebuild indexes, and perform routine maintenance tasks
- Managing WebLogic server domains, clusters, deployments and monitoring or tuning WebLogic server performance
- Carryout installation, configuration, and administration activities on Linux operating system
- Managing Linux OS services, performing troubleshooting, and implementing security best practices
- Attending testing and commissioning activities in LDC for new substations or extensions and ensuring proper integration to existing LDC systems and functionality
- Performing full backups on the Spectrum Power TG EMS and HIS systems and restoring the system in case of partial or full failures
- Monitoring EMS/HIS system processes, CPU, disk space, and network traffic and ensuring system efficiency and reliability
- Creating, deleting, and managing user accounts for LDC power operators and reinitializing password accounts and specifying responsibilities
- Performing modifications and configurations in Spectrum Power TG EMS and HIS systems database and integrating new devices and compatible applications
- Responsible for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis activities
- Monitoring the stock of spare parts for future maintenance work.
- Troubleshooting and repairing LDC system hardware including system machines, printer, monitors, video projectors and wall displays
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
- 8 years field experience with major utility organizations or SCADA system manufacturers.
- Enough experience in Energy Management System and Historical Information Systems
- Enough experience in Spectrum Power TG EMS software applications
- Enough experience in Oracle administration and development tools (Oracle database, forms and reports, PL/SQL, application server and web logic server)
- Enough experience in Linux operating systems
- Enough experience with Linux command-line tools, scripting, and automation
