Job Summary:
The Financial Controller is responsible for managing all financial activities of the organization, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, accounting, and reporting. This role ensures the integrity of financial data, compliance with regulations, and provides strategic financial guidance to senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
- Analyze financial performance and variances to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial performance and optimize resource allocation.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
- Prepare regular forecasts based on actual performance and market trends.
- Monitor budget adherence and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Financial Reporting:
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Coordinate external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior management and board meetings.
Accounting Operations:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and other financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial data integrity.
Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations impacting the organization.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, providing guidance and development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role, with a track record of success in financial management and leadership.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis techniques, and budgeting processes.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
