Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase Assistant to support our apparel procurement team. The ideal candidate will assist in sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of products. This role requires excellent organizational skills, a strong understanding of the apparel industry, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Vendor Management:
- Assist in identifying and evaluating suppliers for raw materials, fabrics, trims, and other apparel components.
- Maintain and update vendor database with current contracts, pricing, and performance metrics.
- Procurement Operations:
- Process purchase orders and follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery.
- Track shipments and resolve any issues related to delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
- Collaborate with the inventory team to ensure stock levels are maintained.
- Quality Assurance:
- Coordinate with the quality control team to verify that purchased goods meet company standards.
- Address non-conformance issues with suppliers promptly.
- Cost Optimization:
- Assist in negotiating prices, payment terms, and contracts to achieve cost efficiency.
- Monitor market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and delivery receipts.
- Prepare and present regular reports on purchasing activities and performance.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with design, production, and inventory teams to align procurement with business needs.
- Ensure clear communication of technical specifications and timelines to suppliers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Fashion Merchandising, or related field.
- Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the apparel or textile industry.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, trims, and apparel production processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
