Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and organized Warehouse Assistant to join our team. The Warehouse Assistant will be responsible for receiving, handling, storing, and tracking furniture inventory within our warehouse. This role will involve physical tasks, inventory management, and ensuring the accuracy of stock levels using warehouse management systems (WMS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
  • Assist in receiving and processing incoming furniture deliveries, ensuring accurate quantity and quality checks.
  • Maintain an organized inventory tracking system to monitor stock levels, update records, and ensure accurate data entry into the WMS.
  • Perform regular stock counts and audits to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Report discrepancies or damaged items to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Track outgoing furniture for delivery or dispatch to customers, ensuring proper documentation is recorded.
  • Handling & Storing Furniture:
  • Safely unload, move, and store furniture items in designated warehouse areas, ensuring careful handling to prevent damage.
  • Organize furniture within the warehouse for easy access and retrieval.
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of furniture as required.
  • Pack and prepare furniture for delivery or shipping, ensuring proper labeling and protection.
  • Warehouse Operations:
  • Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols and guidelines are followed during warehouse operations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed.
  • Assist in preparing orders for delivery, including picking, packing, and labeling items according to customer specifications.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of inventory, deliveries, and warehouse activities.
  • Provide regular reports on inventory levels, damaged goods, and stock discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure timely delivery and resolution of any stock-related issues.
  • Customer Support:
  • Assist with customer pickups, ensuring accurate fulfillment of orders and timely assistance.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and ensuring smooth and efficient transactions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, inventory management, or warehousing is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or inventory management role, preferably in the furniture industry.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) or inventory tracking software.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy furniture items safely (up to [insert weight]).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to operate warehouse equipment is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical demands include standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in warehouse environments.
  • May require occasional weekend or evening work based on business needs.
