DESCRIPTION


  • Assists in the design of basic Low-voltage and telecommunications systems, equipment, components and products for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes
  • Assists engineers with the directing of activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks including: creating plans, updating BIM and AutoCAD detail libraries and design tools, and coordinating drawing production in line with project requirements and in conjunction with other disciplines
  • Prepares layout prints for supervisor or client
  • Provides scopes of work, budgetary estimates, and design coordination with multiple engineering disciplines, and project architectural team
  • Designs included Structured Cabling, Access Control, CCTV, voice and data systems, communications room layout, and building infrastructure for low voltage systems
  • Design experience covers several verticals including, but not limited to, higher-education, healthcare, government and commercial
  • Develops construction specifications and construction drawings; performs change order cost analysis, field inspections, and witnesses field acceptance testing; facilitates contractor coordination; and reviews contract close-out documentation
  • Occasional to moderate travel may be required
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of relevant telecommunication industry experience required.
  • Experience with CAD and GIS-enabled field survey tools required.
  • Working knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of outside plant designs.
  • Strong organization and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of RF and optical networks.
  • Familiarity with design standards relative to RF systems.
  • Experience with OSP telecommunication industry engineering processes and practices, and their impact on project activities.
