GEMS American Academy Secondary Division is seeking a Dean of Students. The Dean of Student position will support the Secondary Division in the character development of students. The Dean of Students will be integral in developing the IB Learner traits, AtLs, and the aspects of the School Development Plan. Furthermore, the Dean of Students will assist in upholding GAA’s mission, vision, and definition of learning.


QUALIFICATIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:


Under direction of the Secondary Principal this position will:


● Participate in the development and maintenance of a positive coordinated educational program designed to


meet the needs of all students


● Help promote, support and develop PBIS and restorative practices


● Work closely with the HS and MS Vice-Principals to uphold student handbook and to provide specific program


support


● Refer students to counselors and SST, in order to address specific needs of students


● Help with student orientation and induction process


● Develop teacher skills to address Level 1 infractions; make recommendations on Level 2 or Level 3 infractions


● Together with PLT, help manage and set agendas for Heads of Grade


● Support teachers through regularly classroom walkthroughs with feedback focused on structure, feedback, and


student management


● Work with PLT to coordinate, plan and execute school-wide professional development


● Liaise with Secondary Systems Coordinator to prepare reports for accreditations as needed by Principal or Head


of School


● Will attend grade level meetings as needed and all HOD meetings


● Will be a contributing member of the Pedagogical Leadership Team


● Clear and regular communication with parents regarding behavior, attendance, and other pastoral matters


● Other duties as assigned by Secondary School Administration

● Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with outstanding teacher evaluation record
