Cinema Service Engineer | MAF Entertainment
ROLE SUMMARY
The Cinema Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing digital cinema projection, sound, and presentation systems. The role supports new cinema deployments, monitors in-field performance, manages timely maintenance and repairs, performs technical fault-finding, and handles administrative documentation, technical support, and inventory management across all VOX Cinemas locations.
ROLE PROFILE
- Collaborate with the Support Team Lead and internal/external technical teams to plan and deliver cinema projection installation projects across all locations.
- Execute on-site installation, wiring, calibration, and commissioning of projection, audio, automation, TMS, and networking systems.
- Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of projection and technical equipment to sites.
- Manage installation schedules, resources, and team activities to ensure projects are completed on time and to quality standards.
- Maintain accurate installation reports, site checklists, calibration data, and technical documentation, including system handover to operations teams.
- Ensure proper maintenance of installation tools, calibration equipment, gears, and kits, uploading calibration data as required
- Provide on-site training and technical support to field technicians and assist with alternate content and live sound setups when required.
- Comply with all safety, security, and MAF/PPF policies, demonstrating flexibility to work evenings/weekends and the ability to work independently in demanding site environments.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or technical certification in Electrical Engineering, IT, or a related technical field; Barco or Christie certification (Level I or II) is preferred.
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience servicing digital cinema systems, including 2–3 years hands-on diagnosing and repairing digital projectors and systems (Barco, Christie, Dolby, GDC, Doremi).
- Strong knowledge of cinema systems including projection (35mm & DLP), audio, automation, control equipment, IMBs, servers, and audio/video test and calibration tools.
- Proven field service and equipment repair skills with strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, and follow-up capabilities; able to provide 24/7 technical support when required.
- Open to extensive travel across Majid Al Futtaim territories, holds a valid UAE driving license, and physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and safely climb ladders up to 15 feet.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, strong planning and organizational skills, results-oriented mindset, and excellent English communication skills (Arabic preferred).
